BOTOX - XEOMIN // NEUROTOXINS

Most have heard of BOTOX, Xeomin or Dysport. All of these injectable products are classified as Neurotoxins. Neurotoxins are a class of injectable solutions that when injected properly temporarily block nerve receptors in the muscle, preventing wrinkles from forming.

Skinfinite Solutions offers both BOTOX and Xeomin to patients as Neurotoxin options. Neurotoxins are an important part of most patients overall aesthetic care plan. With consistent use of neurotoxins many people remain content with their appearance and don't seek out more invasive procedures such as facelifts or brow lifts. In other cases people are finding that they don't desire the more invasive procedures until they are much older.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX®

Botox® is the most popular anti-aging injectable treatment in the world because it produces real anti-aging results. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Lars Enevoldsen of Skinfinite Solutions Medical Spa and Laser Center, offers Botox® for men and women in Modesto, Stockton and surrounding areas of California.

What is Botox®?

Botox® Cosmetic is a popular choice for wrinkle treatment in Modesto. Botox® injections are used to temporarily paralyze the muscles under the skin that cause facial wrinkles, especially frown lines between the eyebrows and on the forehead. Botox® wrinkle treatment can help you look younger and more relaxed without surgery.

Botox® contains purified protein that is administered in a simple, nonsurgical procedure. The injections temporarily smooth the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows.

Benefits of Botox®

The wrinkle-reducing effects of Botox® injections are not permanent. Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to four months. Individual results may vary.

Botox® Cosmetic is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in adults from 18 to 65 years of age.

Botox® will not affect your ability to laugh, smile or otherwise use facial expressions.

How Does Botox® Work?

Botox® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of the “11s,” the moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.

What to Expect from Botox®

A Botox® treatment is a simple, 10 minute procedure that consists of a few tiny injections. The doctor or registered nurse decide exactly where to administer Botox® for best results.

Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. Overall, the discomfort is minimal and temporary, but your doctor may choose to numb the injected area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream before the actual treatment. Often your provider will ice the area to be injected to numb it prior to the injection.

Botox® Cosmetic is contraindicated in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s). Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Botox® is injected into the muscles under the skin with thin needles, causing the muscles that cause wrinkles and frown lines to become temporarily paralyzed. The injection process only takes about 10 minutes, and most patients do not need anesthesia, although a topical anesthetic can be applied, if desired.

After the Botox® Treatment

Most patients go right back to work or continue their activities immediately after the procedure.

Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to four months. Individual results may vary.

The most common side effects are headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Less frequently occurring 3 percent adverse reactions include pain in the face, erythema at the injection site, and muscle weakness.

What is XEOMIN®?

Xeomin® is FDA approved for horizontal lines on the forehead. It is similar to Botox®, but some patients prefer this treatment. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Lars Enevoldsen of Skinfinite Solutions Medical Spa and Laser Center, offers Xeomin® for men and women in Modesto, Stockton and surrounding areas of California.

What is Xeomin®?

Xeomin® is an injectable anti-aging treatment that helps with dynamic wrinkles that are caused by muscle contractions. These wrinkles develop on the forehead in a horizontal pattern.

Benefits of Xeomin®

Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with corrugated and/or procerus muscle activity in adults.

Xeomin® was proven effective in two clinical trials of more than 540 adult patients in the treatment of glabellar frown lines. The average age of patients in the study was 46 years. Patients received 20 units of Xeomin® and were classified as responders if they had a two-grade improvement on a four-point scale as assessed by the physician and patient. Using these criteria, treatment success was higher with Xeomin® than placebo on day 30 in both studies (60% and 48% vs. 0% for placebo in both studies). Based on these trials, Xeomin® received FDA approval for aesthetic use in 2011.

How Does Xeomin® Work?

Wrinkles develop for several reasons. Lower levels of collagen and hyaluronic acid allow the skin to collapse inward. Loose skin sags downward, which will give the appearance of wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles form when movement of certain muscles pinch the skin. Xeomin® temporarily paralyzes the muscles which allows the skin to relax. The result is a softening of lines and wrinkles.

What to Expect from Xeomin®

Treatment usually takes about 10 to 20 minutes. The nurse injector or doctor will inject Xeomin® for injection, for intramuscular use, into the muscles in your forehead that cause frown lines between your brows. No anesthesia is required.

Xeomin® should be administered no more frequently than every three months. Results may last up to four months, and individual results may vary.
