What is Liposuction with VASERlipo®?

Liposuction was first developed in 1974, and in 1982, the technique was introduced to the general public as a way to eliminate unwanted fat. In these early days, the technique was not refined, and patients experienced less than optimum results, tissue trauma and extensive recovery times. The introduction of various energy-based technologies has significantly improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Enevoldsen has chosen VASERlipo® for his patients. This energy-based lipo system uses ultrasound to assist with the loosening, destruction and removal of unwanted fat.

How Does Liposuction with VASERlipo® Work?

VASERlipo® is a minimally invasive technique for fat removal. The procedure only requires very small incisions to accommodate the cannula, which is a very thin tube.

About VASERlipo® Ultrasound energy allows Dr. Enevoldsen to target the unwanted fat with a high degree of precision compared to other technologies. Other technologies, such as laser-assisted lipo, also facilitate fat removal but are limited in the treatment area size. The design of the VASERlipo® system enhances fat removal while reducing trauma, and it is effective on both large and small amounts of fat.

About Traditional Liposuction Traditional liposuction, also known as suction-assisted lipo, works by using a back-and-forth motion to loosen and remove fat. This causes more bleeding, and some areas cannot be effectively treated with traditional liposuction. Even power-assisted liposuction has limitations. Although the treatment time may be shorter, patients experience irregularities in fat removal.

What to expect from Liposuction with VASERlipo®?

Dr. Enevoldsen begins the procedure by injecting a special saline solution into the tissues to act as an anesthetic and help reduce bleeding. Small incisions are made to allow access to the fat layer. A probe is inserted through the incisions, and ultrasound energy is applied to loosen the fat. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out through the tube.
